I fell in love with music as a child. At age 9, I began piano and then added voice lessons a couple years later, studying all the way through high school.
Earning my music degrees from OCU and UMKC wasn’t easy. The environment was highly competitive, and the hours of practice were long. But I was fortunate to have professors who encouraged me to continue.
If I could feel overwhelmed after years of music lessons, imagine how a 7 year old beginning student feels. This is why I show my students how to be successful from day one. Yes, it takes practice and patience, but music should also be joyful!
